I am Gill Rodwell and I look forward to welcoming you to Farthings, my Victorian townhouse, which is in a quiet street on the north side of the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury.
Built in 1870, Farthings has not only seen several families grow in it's spacious rooms, but during the war years with a serious lack of such comforts as maternity homes, the local midwife ran the house as a nursing home.
In the breakfast room there is an interesting collection of old sepia family photographs including the last British ladies doubles to win Wimbledon as well as King George V and Queen Mary!
The breakfast room opens onto a beautifully tended garden which has a great variety of plant families such as Penstemmons, Clematis, Heuchera and many others. The colours of the spring and summer bedding are spectacular. Guests are welcome to sit, relax and enjoy it.
All rooms are on the first floor. They are comfortably furnished and have televisions, hair dryers and facilities for hot drinks.
There is a selection of reading material in the passage, which is run on a "take one or leave one" basis.
