Alderholt Mill is a picturesque working Water Mill set in the lovely Dorset countryside, a real escape from the everyday pressures. An ideal spot in which to relax and unwind and a great situation from which to explore not only Dorset but also West Hampshire, Salisbury and the Wiltshire Downs and of course the New Forest. We are in easy reach of the south coast, just a short drive from Bournemouth and Poole.
The Mill is situated on an island formed by the River Allen, a small tributary that joins the River Avon at the nearby town of Fordingbridge.
There is a large garden with plenty of water features, a wildlife pond, bog garden, and stream where wildlife abounds. Kingfishers and herons are frequent visitors.
Private fishing is available. Grayling and Trout are two of the species in the river, and we can supply a bait fridge and lock up for fishing tackle. Early breakfasts are available for the real fishing enthusiasts.
We have 3 double and 1 twin bedded room all with en-suite shower rooms, and 1 single room with wash hand basin, private toilet and shared bathroom.
All rooms are individually decorated and well furnished. Each room has colour TV, tea/coffee making facilities, and radio alarm clocks. The house is fully centrally heated with a comfortable residents lounge and log burning stove.
The dining room is decorated in lovely rich colours and a full English or light continental breakfast is served around the large table. We use local produce wherever possible, especially New Forest Marque awarded produce.
We have no liquor licence but you are welcome to bring your own favourite tipple.
We try to ensure that you have everything you need for a quiet peaceful stay, without being tied to time schedules. All guests will be offered a front door key to allow them to come and go as they please.
